Mohan Lal Sukhadia University Udaipur in its upcoming 20^th Convocation will honour Toppers with a Silver Medal; blames price hike of gold for deficiency. The Convocation is scheduled on 21^st December.

It may be the first time for any University that the best students are honoured with a Silver medal; around 70 top pass-outs of the University supposed to be called Gold Medallists will now be Silver Medallist, all because of ever increasing gold prices.

Prof. I. V. Trivedi, Vice Chancellor of MLSU informed “We have ordered for the required numbers of Silver medals”; believes that it will help in reducing overall budget of annual event”.

On the other hand, a Student Union CSS have decided to arrange funds from their pocket as well as sponsors. The collected amount will be awarded in cash, equally to all the deserving pass-outs.

Sources informed that in past Convocations, University had awarded 9 Carat gold medal costing around Rs. 12 thousand; however this year gold medal will be replaced with that of a 20 gram Silver medal to the toppers.

“CSS have also approached some private builders and social service organizations; the contributions would be collected by 19^th, however the cash awards will be distributed in another event and not with University’s convocation”, said Dilip Joshi, President, CSS.
