The Golden City Jaisalmer invites one and all for the 4-day Desert Fair/Maru Mela to be held from 24th February. The fair is held every year in the Maagh Mahina and attracts a large number of tourists. The colours of Rajasthan, the soulful music, the beauty of the golden dunes, Sonar Quila...just everything is mesmerising.
A series of events take place in this fair. From dances and music to the hilarious competitions, the mela is a must attend event and it provides a good break from the routine life. Held amidst the sand dunes in Sam, 42 kms away from the city, the fair gives a feel that cannot be simply described in words.
From the waves of music to the swirling ghaghras, the sound of ghunghroos, the melody of the local music, the beautifully decorated camels and the vast span of sand dunes combine to give you a feel of being in dreams and this dream is actually a great experience.
The various competitions that are held are not just among the human beings, but animals are also a part of the competitions. Camel race, camel dance, longest moustache, turban tying, Mr Desert, Miss Moomal and many many more.
