More importantly, this Indian classical music fest is a year away to celebrate its 50 years. Started in the year 1962 when famous classical singer Pandit Omkar Nath Thakur presented his art on the land of mewar, today this 49th Maharana Kumbha music festival will make those memories fresh.
On the first day, Santoor by Pandit Bhajan Sopori and Pandit Hariparasad Cahurasia will perform flute recital. On second day, duet vocal by Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra and Bharatnatyam dance by Kshitija Barve will entertain the audience.
The last day will be a tabla performance by Ustad Zakir Hussain, said Y.S Kothari to TOI
Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Kala Trust’s key motive is to promote the Indian classical music and art. It was named in the memory of Maharana Kumbha who was a great ruler of Mewar and his extreme knowledge in science of music. He wrote an excellent notion on Indian music, titled “Sangeetraj”
The Trust gives practical support and patronage to all forms of indian – classical and folk music, all forms of indian classical and folk dance, local and tribal arts and fine arts of all disciplines, drama and theatrical work. (eternal-mewar in eternalmewar.in)
