The 2022 Diwali Fair at Udaipur will begin from 15 October at the Nagar Nigam premises. A meeting was convened on Wednesday, October 12, to discuss comprehensive security during the fair. After Covid lockdown during the past two years, the fair is expected to be colossal this year.
In view of the huge crowd turnout, the administration has taken comprehensive security precautions for the fair. The administration has taken security measures for the fair in advance.
The fair premises will be manned by more than 100 Home Guards personnel and entry will be secured with metal detectors. Additionally, letters requesting the deployment of four Home Guards from each local police station along with one police constable have been issued to police officers.
“The revenue department of Udaipur Nagar Nigam has issued a request for 100 Home Guards to be present during the fair.” - Devendra Sahu, Security Officer, UMC.
Temporary police booths (police chauki) will be set up near the premises and will be covered with CCTV cameras. Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi has also emphasized the importance of having stringent security throughout the fair celebration. The License and Adhaar Card of every stall owner needs to be submitted for a security check and these documents will be verified together with the owner's introductory letter.
