Advaiya Solutions and IdeaScale together organized an in-house app hackathon event on Saturday, 27 July, 2013. This was a 12 hour (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) event and was sponsored by IdeaScale. In this hackathon, Advaiyans were invited to team-up and develop new innovative apps on the IdeaScale platform, with INR 25000 as a reward to be taken away by the winning app team.

IdeaScale is a crowdsourcing based idea management solution that enables a culture of innovation by allowing organizations to promote the contribution of ideas within/outside their organization.

At the very heart, Advaiyans have always been known for being technology enthusiasts. So, this hackathon was aimed at showcasing their skills related to innovation, development and creative, and highlight their caliber. With 10 teams participating (33 members in total) in the hackathon, the event was filled with extreme enthusiasm and there was seen a confluence of great energy, collaboration, brainstorming, agility, and fun.

A range of thoughts were shaped to innovative apps including having sentiment analysis on ideas, sms based submission of ideas, integration of IdeaScale with Project server, IdeaScale chrome extension, etc. There were different vectors on which the apps were rated including – Novelty of the idea, Usefulness of the business case, Creativity, Boldness, User Experience, Design and Presentation. The jury comprised of the Vivek Bhaskaran, Founder of IdeaScale, and Rob Hoehn, CEO, IdeaScale.

Following the hackathon, was a presentation session wherein all the teams were given 6 minutes to present their apps to the jury. This session was held on Tuesday, 30, 2013. The jury appreciated everyone’s efforts and really liked the kind of apps Advaiya teams had developed.

Yesterday, the results of the hackathon were announced. The jury confirmed via email yesterday that they have chosen two apps as winning apps. The winning teams are- Fantistic 4 (Data Insight App) and The Dexters (Integration of idea scale with Google Chat {or SMS Gateway} and Enhanced experience of ideas).
