On the occasion of Tilak Jayanti, birthday of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a program was organized at Aishwarya College today.

Inaugurating the program, Dr. Vijaylaxmi Parmar, Principal of the college explained the importance of the day and introduced students with the character and persona of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, a well known freedom fighter, journalist, nationalist and advocate.

Parmar said that Tilak was the editor of two newspapers, Kesari (Marathi) and The Maratha (English); Tilak continuously strived against Britishers through his journalism motivated by his love for the country. Bal Gangadhar Tilak was honored with the title of Lokmanya which means – Accepted by the people.
