The offering of ‘pongala’ is a very traditional temple practice in the southern part of Kerala; and Chakkulathukavu and Attukal Devi temples in Kerala are famous for it. It is believed that, grief and problems are washed away through ‘pongala’ offering to the Goddess, on the auspicious occasion of Karthik Poornima.
