Udaipur, Dec 25, 2025 - In view of the popularity of the Shilpgram Festival, the Udaipur Nagar Nigam has started a city bus service for the convenience of visitors to the venue. The bus service operates every half an hour from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm, connecting Surajpole to Shilpgram.

The bus route from Surajpole passes through Chetak Circle, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Dewali. On the return journey, the bus travels from Shilpgram via Fateh Sagar, Chetak Circle and Delhi Gate and then to Surajpole.

Organised by the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, the 10-day festival showcased vibrant folk traditions on its fourth evening at the Muktakashi Stage. Performances under the theme Lok Ke Rang – Lok Ke Sang captivated audiences. Highlights included Garba from Gujarat, Dogri folk dance Jagarna from Jammu, Nagada percussion from Rajasthan, Sahariya Swang reflecting tribal culture and Safed Aangi Ger depicting rural traditions. Goa’s Dekhni, Manipur’s Lai Haraoba, Tripura’s Hojagiri and Odisha’s Sambalpuri dance received thunderous applause.

Maharashtra’s Mallakhamb thrilled spectators because of the daring feats displayed, while Haryana’s Ghoomar and Rajasthan’s Deru dance, dedicated to folk deity Gogaji, were widely enjoyed. The December 24 programme was anchored by Mohita Dixit and Yash Dixit.

On the Banjara Stage, the fourth day of Hivda Ri Hook witnessed an interactive quiz hosted by Saurabh Bhatt with instant prizes for the audience.

Live folk performances, like Gavri, Chakri, Bajigar acrobatics, Ghumot, Povada, Manganiyar singing and more entertained from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm at different huts.

Shilpgram

WZCC Director Furqan Khan said the deep-rooted love for art among the people of Udaipur has turned the Shilpgram Festival into a benchmark cultural event. He added that innovations are introduced every year keeping the audience’s interests in mind. He also informed that 15 renowned painters, including four Padma awardees, are participating in an art camp which will conclude on Thursday (December 25).

Thursday’s highlights on Muktakashi Stage include Odisha’s Gotipua, Chhattisgarh’s Pandwani singing, Manipur’s Pung Dhol Cholom and West Bengal’s energetic Natua dance, along with performances from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa, Jammu, Tripura, Haryana, Maharashtra and Odisha.
