A series of events will continue for the next two days, including a grand procession on March 24, 2012. Today's cultural programs included dance and singing, which were performed by kids of the Sindhi community. The participants also honored 150 students above fifth class who scored more than 75% in annual exams.

The celebrations of the Cheti Chand festival started today with a cultural program held at Jhulelal Bhawan at Hiran Magri, Sec-4. On this occasion, more than 100 students were honoured for their academic achievements.

A series of events will continue for the next two days, including a grand procession on March 24, 2012. Today’s cultural programs included dance and singing, which were performed by kids of the Sindhi community. The participants also honored 150 students above fifth class who scored more than 75% in annual exams.

Regarding the procession on Cheti Chand, Harish Rajani, President, Sindhi Central Yuva Seva Samiti, has informed that it will be on theme of ‘Corruption’, will start from Community Hall located at Shakti Nagar and conclude at Kamlawadi, Sindhi Dharamshala on 24th March.

The procession will be followed by ‘Langar’, a community feast simultaneously at four different locations viz. Julelal Mandir (Shakti Nagar), Hiran Magri Sec – 4 & 11 and Partap Nagar. More than 10,000 people are expected in the program.

On the same day, a cultural evening is scheduled at Shukhadia Rangmanch, Town Hall where Tera Pal Dance by Vanshika Rajani, a 7 year old girl will be the main attraction; the dance will be performed with brass tied all over her body and on the arms.

It is to be noted that last year on Cheti Chand, she displayed her talent by dancing with clay lamps.

On Sunday March 25, 2012, there will be a distribution of fruits at Central Jail, T.B Hospital, General wards of M.B hospital and Hostel of Disabled people in the morning, while in the evening a fair will be organized at Shakti Nagar.
