A numbers of activities took place today at the Shepherd Memorial Church as the Christian community celebrated Good Friday today. Good Friday is a remembrance of the sacrifices of Jesus Christ and the historical crucifixion of Christ. Devotees recited hymns and cogitated on the seven words of Christ.

Prayers were carried out in churches in two sessions, morning and mid-afternoon. Rev. Father Innocent Nelson, priest from Jaipur read verses from the Holy Bible and explained devotees about the seven words of Jesus.

Jesus Christ sacrificed to save humanity and bring prosperity in the world. Although this day is called Good Friday, however it’s an occasion to observe the sorrow and pain confronted by Jesus. The Christians also fast for 40 days, which starts before Good Friday and concludes with Easter celebration, as Christ was resurrected on that day, according to the common belief.

The week long program that started from Sunday, 1^st April and will continue till 8^th April, 2012 Easter Day, followed by Easter Feast with all the community people at the Church. Good Friday is also known as Black Friday, Holy Friday and Great Friday.
