The cantabile sound of Christmas carols and bells has started assimilating in Christian localities of the city, the market is all set with decorative items and cakes, Churches are seeing the additional activities and preparations for the grand celebration on the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Our Lady Fatima Cathedral Church (at St.Paul’s) has started its preparations with cleaning, decorating, lighting and making of cribs at church to celebrate Christmas 2011.

“The prolong events of Christmas has started from 18 Dec with a peace rally and Carol singing and Christmas symbol at functions will start from today. 5 teams of Carolers will go from house to house, singing Carols and spreading the message of Christmas for next 4 days,” says Parish Priest Father Ranjan.

Practices for Joint Christmas Carols event is on full swing at the Church where all community members will come together and do the carol singing on 23^rd December at Rajasthan Pentecostal Church.

Rector of the parish, Father Kulranjan Nicholas informed, “We have conducted a sports day this year on Dec. 30^th in which we will have various sports activities like race, musical chairs, tug-of-war, singing and dancing and housie lotto. This gives a chance to community people to come together and share their joy for the festival.”

A volunteer, Bella Thomas at church informed that the message from this year’s crib is to help the needy and poor. “Jesus himself came on earth to serve the same purpose,” she explains.

The celebration of Christmas seems incomplete without cakes. Several bakeries and cake shops of the city are offering special cakes for the occasion. Exceptional Plum, Swiss, Brownie and Strawberry Cake are available at The Chocolate Room at Madhuban and they also have the gift packets of chocolates like Belgium Chocolate and on-the-house Chocolate.

Le-Cakery at Chetak Circle is offering Christmas cakes with royal Icing (Marzipan), almonds and cashew nuts. The bakery is also preparing chocolates with filling of Blueberry, Hazelnut, Scotch and Walnut.

Big brands like Archie’s and Hallmark has series of new collections with greeting cards, Christmas trees, Santa-caps, ball and baubles, dresses, show pieces and ornaments.

The Christian communities of the city are all set to celebrate the festival with joy and bliss.
