City Palace Begins Pre-celebrations of Holi
In sequence of upcoming festival Holi, pre-celebrations started today at the City Palace. Organized by Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation Udaipur at City Palace Museum pre-celebrations commenced from 23rd March and will continue till 26th; amongst other activities, exhibition of traditional painting and workshop is included.

On the first day of this 4 days of Holi celebration, painting exhibition was inaugurated by Shailendra Dashora, Director of WZCC. The exhibition displays various forms of paintings of both Indian and International Artists; also on the occasion, Photo Exhibition ‘Colours’ is organized in the Janana Mahal at the City Palace Campus.
According to Bhupendra Singh, Joint Secretary of Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, in a workshop organised in coordination with local artist Aditi Babel, artists from various parts of the State and even from London shared their skills.
Peter Hayas of London showcased sculptures, Nilesh Sharma from Udaipur displayed folk painting, Jamna Lal Kumhar (Rajsamand) exhibited Molalla Art, Krishnakant Sharma (Udaipur) demonstrated thikri art, Ram Chandra Sharma (Udaipur) revealed Fad Painting and Puppet Art, while Marble Art of Rajesh Mogiya were put on display.
In ‘Colours’, photo exhibition started at Janana Mahal, coordinated with efforts of Ushat Gulgule artist from Mumbai, the exhibition displaying art work of Artists from all over India will continue till 25th March, added Bhupendra Singh. Entry passes for both Exhibition and Workshop could be collected from Badi Pol of Sheetla Gate of City Palace Complex.
In the evening, Kathak Dancer from Delhi, Swati Sinha enlightened the moods by an astonishing dance performance with colorful light effects at Manak Chowk. Through her dance performance, she showcased the mythology behind celebrating the festival of hole and the way it was celebrated in Mathura.
