The Department of Medicine, R.N.T Medical College, Udaipur and the APICON-86, R.N.T Medical College Trust, Udaipur held ‘Continuing Medical Education Programe & Workshop (Medicine) – 2014’ yesterday.

The Department of Medicine, R.N.T Medical College, Udaipur and the APICON-86, R.N.T Medical College Trust, Udaipur held ‘Continuing Medical Education Programe & Workshop (Medicine) – 2014’ yesterday.

Dr. D.P. Singh, Chairman, Dr. D.C Kumawat, Co-Chairman and Dr. Renu Khamesra were the Organizing Secretary of the event.

The inaugural session started in the morning at 8.30 AM at the New Lecture Theatre in which Principal, Dr. Chandra Mathur was the Chief Guest, Dr. H.K Bedi was the Guest of Honour, Dr. H.N.S Bhatnagar, Managing Trustee, APICON-86 Trust was Special guest.

It was attended by physicians, neurologists, faculty members, resident doctors and students from various colleges and institutes.

The first scientific session had four illuminating talks by the giants of neurology. The first talk was given by Dr. H.K. Bedi on the past, present and future of neurology.

The second one was delivered by Dr. A.A Saifee (former Principal, RNT Medical College) on epilepsy. Dr. Saifee described and explained the clinical aspects for diagnosis of epilepsy, and the factors based on which treatment modalities are decided.

The next talk was presented by Dr. Suresh Gupta (Neurologist at Santokba Durlabhji Memorial Hospital, Jaipur) on Parkinson’s disease; its early signs, symptoms and treatment options.

The last presentation was given by Dr. Rajneesh Kachhara (Neurosurgeon from Vedanta Medicity, Gurgaon) on surgical treatment of SAH.

The next scientific session also had four excellent lectures by students of RNT Medical College who have become neurologists in different parts of the country. The first one was by Dr. Vinay Goyal  (Professor, AIIMS, New Delhi) on advanced Parkinson’s disease, second one was Dr. D.R Shah memorial lecture given by faculty member, Dr. Tarun Ralot on cerebral venous sinus thrombosis.

The next two talks were given by Dr. Arvind Sharma and Dr. Mukesh Sharma respectively, both from Ahmedabad, on different aspects of Stroke.

The audience were enraptured by the depth and range of information conveyed through the talks. The material was presented through slide shows presentations and live demonstrations.

The talks were followed by interactive discussions. A quiz for PG students was conducted at the end of the sessions.
