Cycle Rally on World Population Day

To mark the World Population Day 2011, a mass cycle rally was organized today by the District Forest Department, Udaipur. More than 500 cyclists participated in the event which started at 6.50AM from Information Centre, chetak circle and ended at Moti Magri.

Cyclists from National Cadet Corps, Maharana Mewar Public School and many local NGOs travelled through different areas of the city, spreading the message of saving the environment on the occasion of World Population Day.

Commandar I.S Sahdeva flagged off the rally from Chetak circle, he also cycled all over the way encouraging the fellow cyclists.

Besides Commander I.V Sahdeva, Dr. Vijaylaxmi Chouhan, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar and Madan Mohan – Commanding Officer Raj. Naval Wing (NCC) were among the chief guests whose presence made the event a successful and remarkable one. The program was managed by the Forest Department,Udaipur, Dr. N.C Jain – Chief Forest Officer hosted the 2 hour function.

In the continuation of the event, NCC Cadets took part in a plantation ceremony held at Fateh School at 9 am, around 150 saplings were sown by NCC cadets, the cadets also took oath to save the environment.
