Bohra Welfare Society (Mandi Association) honoured 166 students from the community for their achievement in the 2023-2024 academic year; organisers express pride for 100% literacy rate in the community

Udaipur, February 3, 2025 - The Bohra Welfare Society (Mandi Association), affiliated to the reformist Dawoodi Bohra (Youth), honoured 166 students from the community for their achievement in the previous academic year. An award ceremony was organised on February 1, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad,  and Abbas Alamdar, son of Hazrat Ali. The event was held at the Vazeehpura Masjid in Bohrawadi.

Spokesperson Mansoor Ali Orawala informed that, as in previous years, the society honoured students from the 2023-2024 academic year, who excelled in various faculties from Grades 1 to 12, as well as those excelling in Undergraduate and Postgraduate streams. Students who secured first, second, and third positions were awarded prizes and certificates of appreciation. Additionally, the top achievers in MBA, IIT, BE, ME, MBBS, CA, ICWA, CS and PhD were also felicitated. Additionally, students from the School of Deeni Taleem were honoured based on merit.

Addressing the gathering, president of The Bohra Welfare Society Qamaruddin Mandiwala said the society has been honouring talented individuals from the reformist Bohra community for more than 42 years in a bid to promote and encourage education. He expressed his happiness that most of the awardees were female students, which reflects the high educational standards of women in the community.

Secretary of The Bohra Welfare Society Hibtullah Attari said the literacy rate in the Dawoodi Bohra community (Bohra Youth) is 100%. Most members of the community are highly educated and contribute their services both domestically and internationally.

The event was conducted by Ali Mazhar Rassawala. The successful execution of the programme was made possible through the support of the society members, including Ashiq Magar, Khursheed Sabeel, Riyaz Tinwala, Azam Sanwari, Yusuf Prithviraj, Shabbir Nasir, Anees Kholiya and Abdullah DM.

Earlier, Mulla Peer Ali and Ali Asgar Khilonawala shed light on the enlightened aspects of Imam Hussain's life and advised the youth to follow in his footsteps. Qaseedas (praise poems) were recited in honour of Imam Hussain.
