Devotees Gathered for Urs of Mastan Baba

From last three days, hundreds and thousands of Mastan Baba’s devotees are gathering at his shrine near Rani Road to commemorate the annual Urs (day of death).
Abd-ur-Rauf a.k.a. Mastan Baba was the man with an eminent persona. He was also remembered as a saintly and devoted figure to Almighty. Not only Muslims but he also has large number of non-Muslim followers in Udaipur and nearby areas. On the day of his urs large number of people visit his shrine to pay respect by offering chadar and participating in a tradition of Kul.
In every age, we see such people who with their extraordinary efforts, attain immense respect and fellowship after almighty. Mastan Baba was also known as Ayad Wale Baba. In his initial days he used to sit near Ayad bridge. Once in year 1972 when Udaipur was affected with heavy flood, ayad river was overflowing and all nearby areas were submerged, mysteriously the only place where Mastan Baba used to sit was untouched with flood, later Mastan Baba moved to Gulab Bagh and spent 30 years there in curing and helping needy. Very little is known about Mastan Baba’s past but his noble work over the period of time, gave him due popularity in Udaipur.
On June 24th 1998 Mastan Baba left this world for a final journey and his Shrine was raised 3 Kms from Udaipur city at Rani Road.
