Devotees March Together In 'Kawad Yatra'

Nearly 4000 ‘Kawadias’ gathered in an annual religious marathon, starting from the historic Gangukund the yatra concluded at Ubeshwarji temple; at the Ubeshwarji temple ages old ritual of ‘Jalabhishek’ was performed on lord Shiva.

 
Devotees March Together In 'Kawad Yatra' Nearly 4000 ‘Kawadias’ gathered in an annual religious marathon, starting from the historic Gangukund the yatra concluded at Ubeshwarji temple; at the Ubeshwarji temple ages old ritual of ‘Jalabhishek’ was performed on lord Shiva. In this traditional ‘Kawad Yatra’ thousands of devotees from various parts of city, including nearby districts participated; devotees filled their mud pots with holy water of Gangukund, organised around 8 am today morning. Devotees March Together In 'Kawad Yatra' In words of a devotee, these pots tied on both ends of wooden stick are pronounced as ‘Kawad’, while the one who carries these ‘Kawad’ along the way is known as ‘Kawadia’. The drive marched across the city from Gangukund located at Ayad, covering a mighty distance of about 35km, reached Ubeshwarji temple at around 3.30 pm to perform a holy ritual of Jal-abhishek, with the same holy water of Gangukund.
