th District Level Basket Tournament started today at Fateh School’s basket ball court. 27 teams from various schools are participating in this 4 day tournament culminate on 6
th September 2011. The winning team and players with best performances will represent Udaipur team at the state level tournament which is scheduled from 16th of this month at Fateh School, Udaipur.
The event was initiated by Education Department and inaugurated by Suresh Chandra Sharma, Head coach and chief official of the tournament.. Teams are divided into 2 categories mainly under-19 and under-17 (Boys and Girls). There are 18 teams in under-19 (Boys), 9 teams in under-17 (Boys), 8 teams in under-19 (girls) and 6 teams in under-17 (Girls) category. In today’s event 11 matches were played between various school teams in both the categories.
Boys (under-19) The first match was played between Guru Nanak School and Guru Gobind Singh School. Guru Gobind Singh won the match. In the second match Bhopal Nobles School was beaten by St. Mathew’s School while MDS was smashed by St. Gregorios School in the third match. An exciting match between MMPS and CPS ended when MMPS earned victory over the latter one. In another match between Bhopal Nobles and Seedling School, Seedling faced a defeat.
Boys (under-17) There were only two matches played in this category. The first match was won by Bhopal Nobles team who had beaten St. Paul’s while in other match Central Academy (Sardarpura) had rolled over its victory against The Scholar Arena.
Girls (under-19) Girls of Alok School (Sec-11) shattered the team of MMPS in the first match in this category. The second match was held between Seedling School and Central Academy (Sardarpura) in which Central Academy won the match. St. Teresa’s girls swept over the girls of St. Gregorios in another classic match which exhibited team spirit by both the teams.
Girls (under-17) There was only one match played in this category where Rajasthan Mahila Vidyalaya (RMV) and St. Teresa fought for win. St. Teresa won the match finally.
