Under their ‘Save Semal trees’ campaign, Society for Microvita research and Integrated Medicine (SMRIM) celebrated Holika Dahan eco-friendly way by using iron pole for burning the pyre. The society has been celebrating this way for the last 8 years.
Under their ‘Save Semal trees’ campaign, Society for Microvita research and Integrated Medicine (SMRIM) celebrated Holika Dahan eco-friendly way by using iron pole for burning the pyre. The society has been celebrating this way for the last 8 years.
Their motto is to save Semal (Bombax Ceiba) trees which are generally used in burning Holika pyre.
Dr. S. K. Sharma, President (SMIRM) informed that many organizations, societies and families joined this initiative, where the pyre was tied to the iron pole and burnt.
In Udaipur region thousands of Semal trees are used for burning Holika Dahan which has led to its decline in numbers.
Vartika Jain, Secretary (SMIRM) said that this year due to awareness among people many Semal trees were saved from being burnt. And now more and more people are taking an oath to celebrate Holika Dahan eco-friendly way.
