To mark the beginning Hindu New Year (Nav Samvat ) 2070, a four day mass celebration will be organized in the joint association of Alok Sansthan and Udaipur Municipal Corporation. Programs including fair, firework and procession etc. will start from April 8th to continue till 11th April.

Programs including fair, firework and procession etc. will start from April 8th to continue till 11th April.

Informing the detailed schedule of the programs, a press conference was held today, led by Dr. Pradeep Kumawat of Alok Sansthan, Rajni Dangi Mayor of the city and Corporator Krishankant Kumawat.

Following is the schedule and highlights of the program.

First Day – April 8th, 2013 @ Dudhtalai

An Oil Painting and a Gangaur Boat, representing the culture will be unveiled on the occasion of Samvatsar and 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The program will be conducted at Dudh Talai at 7 in the evening.

A film “Aao Phir Se Diya Jalayein” will be showcased publically to feature programs of past New Year (Nav Samvatsar).

Second Day – April 9th, 2013 @ Fateh Sagar

To promote the tradition of wearing Pagdi (turban), a competition will be held to present the best decorated turban. Kite flying and colorful fireworks presentation will be conducted on April 9th at Fatehsagar Paal. Programs also include an exhibition based on the life of Swami Vivekananda.

Pagdi Competition will take place in two different categories: Participants between 3 to 12s year of age and other category will be Above 12 years of age.

In a special honor giving ceremony, the sweepers of the city will be awarded for their important contribution in keeping the streets and localities clean.

A patriotic film “Maati ka Karz” by Dr. Pradeep Kumawat will be premiered on the same day at Fatehsagar.

Third Day – April 10th, 2013 @Gangaur Ghat

A vibrant cultural evening full of traditional dance and music will be hosted on the shore of Lake Pichola. The program “Vida 2069” will be a farewell to the past year and welcoming of the Nav Samvat.

Before the cultural program, a large rally will be organized starting from Nathdwara to end at Pichola. All localities and villages that fall in between the rally route will be encouraged to the join the celebration.

‘Jyoti Kalash Sanskriti Chetna Yatra’ will start from Nathdwara at 2:40pm and will pass through Eklingji – Chirwa – Amberi – Sukher – Bhuwana – Pula – Fatehpura – Panchwati – Chetak Circle – Hathipol – Ghantaghar – Jagdish Chowk and end at Gangaur Ghat.

Fourth Day – April 11, 2013 Swagatam 2070

On the first day of Nav Samvat, Devotees will start their day praying Lord Surya, thereafter thousands of students of Alok will disperse in various city areas and greet localities by applying ‘tilak’ and offering mixture of Neem, Sugar and Black pepper.
