Handmade Paper Workshop commenced by WZCC

A workshop of ‘Handmade Paper’ directed towards kids started at Shilgram today. The workshop is organized by West Zone Cultural Center, with a motive to revive the 600 year old art of handmade paper making.

Shailendra Dashora, Director, WZCC informed, “The old/unused publications, papers will be used in the workshop to make different paper items. The workshop is directed towards kids, to make them aware about this art which is on its verge of extinction”.

Mirza Baig Akhtar, artist, added, “After the arrival of Mughals, Mewar became the heart for this art. As the procedure of handmade paper needs ample water, the village – Ghosunda became the main center.”

The workshop will continue till 17th November where participating kids will get to know the procedure involved in handmade paper making.
