IIM Udaipur’s Lit Fest 2020 soars to new heights
Festival saw active participation from schools across Udaipur
IIM Udaipur organized its annual literary fest ‘Leap Day Lit Fest- 20’ at its Balicha campus on 22 and 23 February. The festival comprised of several events celebrating the cultural vibrancy and intellectual fervour of a medley of art forms.
Speakers, viz. Savi Sharma, Ashish Bagrecha and Helly Shah graced the event - ‘Speakers’ Insights’ and talked about their journey as authors and the recent trends in literature. The theme this year was ‘Stranger than Fiction’, and the festival hosted multiple events such as ‘Debate in fiction’, ‘What’s your Pitch’, ‘Escape Room 2.0’ and ‘Gaming Eve’. Escape Room saw active participation from students and the winners were felicitated and awarded cash prizes on the 2nd day of the festival.
A creative writing workshop by ‘The Scribbled Stories (TSS)’ was also organised. Omar Tarique, co-founder of TSS and Swarnima Poddar, writer at TSS, gave the assembly pointers about effective writing as a means of communication and provided the attendees with hands-on experience in the art of weaving stories. The event was attended by 70+ students from various schools across Udaipur such as Indo American School, Neerja Modi School and St. Anthony School.
An art and photography exhibition was also organized, which saw submissions in large numbers and was a steady crowd puller.
LIT FEST, the annual literary festival of IIM Udaipur, flagship event of the literary society of the institute, aims at celebrating and nurturing the creativity in the IIMU community and aims at providing a suitable platform to express it.
