Udaipur’s Gaurav Meena and Chennai’s Jagdish Janarthan won IIMU’s Udaipur Amazing Race that started in the morning from MLSU Campus and stretched through various city areas where several clues were hidden.

100 participants (all students of IIM-U) divided into groups of two were asked to identify and solve seven clues placed at city’s Gulab Bagh, Bagore ki Haveli, Hanuman Ghat and Shilpgram areas.

It is the first of its kind event ever organized by any IIM campus in India. Elaborating the concept of Udaipur Amazing Race, Piyush Singh, an IIM student said, “We have conceptualized the race from the famous ‘The Amazing Race’, the reality adventure program on AXN, and orchestrated it at a local level.”

“The race was to encourage the participants to explore the city, its heritage and cultures, as most of the IIMU students are from outside Udaipur, so, it is a great way to know more about the lake city”, says Piyush who is also an active member of Code Red Team of IIMU.

Out of 8 teams shortlisted for next level, the fastest one was chosen winner. Team of Gaurav Meena and Jagdish Janarthan won the first Udaipur Amazing Race while Akshay Jhinga from Gurgaon and his partner Saad-ur-Raashid from Allahabad stood second.

Piyush also shared that from next year, IIMU will invite other colleges of the city to participate in this event.

The team not only solved the puzzles and recognized the clues but they also participated in various activities as well.

The winner Jagdish said, “Till now I had only seen the lakes of Udaipur but never tried to explore the other places of the city. Today’s was a wonderful and exciting experience.”

Akshay, the runner up, said, “I even took a dip at Hanuman Ghat which enthralled me.”

The race started at 12 noon and concluded at 4 pm. The event was fully managed and executed by teams of IIMU including IIM Event Management Club, Totturie Club and Code Red Club.
