IIMU to host ‘Inclusive India Forum’ on 26th

IIM Udaipur in association with the Harvard Business School Club of India is going to host the first ‘Inclusive India Forum’ on 26th July, 2014 at IIMU campus.

Social Responsibility has been dealt largely through financial interventions on an ad hoc basis benefiting a limited number of people, in not a very planned and strategic manner. Corporations are now shifting their focus to skillfully planned, development-oriented programs which look to achieve more meaningful upliftment of the communities.

In order to maximize the benefit arising out of corporate participation, it is imperative to understand the context, identify what works best in India and work in close association and partnership with the NGOs.

This forum is an attempt to provide a unique platform for corporates and NGOs with matching value systems and ideologies to come together and have a dialogue and build a mutually beneficial and complementary partnership. Corporate India will be represented by alumni of the HBS club of India and CEOs/CSR heads of reputed corporate entities from all over the country.

The development management sector will be represented by founders and senior functionaries of leading NGOs. Strong partnerships forged here will ensure that existing unreached segments of our society gain maximum benefit in the years to come. One objective of the forum is to create a roadmap for ongoing activities and synergies, which will help to ensure that the forum is just a starting point of a bigger endeavor.

The Centre for Development Management at IIM Udaipur will play a crucial role in ensuring continuity of the initiatives which are planned during this event.

The panel discussions in the event will focus on the areas of health, education and livelihood. At the end of the panel discussions, the delegates will deliberate separately on the three separate focus areas in smaller groups and build a larger plan for action in each specific area.

The event will include delegates from Harvard Business School Club of India, CEOs / CSR Heads of Corporations, NGOs and the students of IIMU. Representative from companies on the likes of Airtel, Axis Bank, BP India, Brookings India, Coca-Cola, DLF, Essar Foundation, Ernst & Young, Forbes Marshall, Hindustan Zinc, HPCL, Hindustan Zinc, ITC, IOCL, Max India Foundation, NASSCOM foundation and Secure, among others have confirmed their participation in the forum.

Corporate participants can expect to get specific ideas from the speakers and panelists about innovative development projects where they can make highly visible and productive investments for national causes, initiatives in the identified areas where they can get brand recognition for companies and ideas on using technology for maximum scaling of their CSR efforts.

NGO Heads and Co-Founders of Aajeevika Bureau, ACCESS Development Services, Akshaya Patra Foundation, Ananya Finance, Arth, ASA, BAIF, BASIX, British Council, Concern India, Drishtee, IBTADA, IIMPACT, Jatan, Lokpanchayat, Marie Stopes International, Pan Himalaya Foundation, Piramal Foundation, Plan International, RGVN, Seva Mandir, Sewa Rural, Shaishav, Smile Foundation, Unnati, Uthan, VANI, Vidya Bhavan, YOJAK among others based out of places like New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Assam, Gujarat, Bangaluru, Chennai, Uttarakhand, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Madhya Pradesh will also take part in the forum and bring a ground level perspective and to the issues in focus.

Indian Institute of Management Udaipur strives to build a workforce of student managers imbibed with the beliefs of social responsibility, inclusiveness and the potential of collective growth, who can go on to create social and economic values for the society.

This initiative is one of many steps taken in this direction.
