An Industry-Academia Collaboration Meet was organized at Techno India  NJR Institute of Technology on 25 May 2013.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Arvind Mayaram, Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India, emphasized the need of skilled engineers to maintain the high GDP growth rate. He said that this can be achieved only if industry and academia work together to impart hands-on knowledge to graduates.

Mr. Arvind Singhal, Patron, Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry pledged his full support for collaboration between industry and academia through Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr. Ranjan Dhawan, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, explained the tie up of Bank of Baroda with Manipal university to offer one year PG diploma in banking at the end of which students are absorbed as Probationary officer in Bank of Baroda.

Prof. I.V. Trivedi, emphasized the need of inputs from industry in upgrading the curriculum to make it more relevant for industries and to take concrete steps in the direction of industry academia collaboration through MoUs.

Mr. R.S. Vyas Director, Techno India NJR welcomed all the guests to the meet and apprised them of the grim situation of graduates in India as indicated by various surveys conducted by McKinsey, NASSCOM, and MetriTrac. He urged all the speakers to devise a concrete action plan to bridge the gap between skills required by industry and actually possessed by the graduates.
