“Kagaz ki Kashti” a biography on the legendary Ghazal King Jagjit Singh was screened in Darpan auditorium at Shilpgram on Tuesday October 10th. Ghazal Academy and West Zone Cultural Centre organised the screening of “Kagaz ki Kashti”.

Legendary Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh has a great fan following. The Ghazal Maestro is alive in the hearts of ghazal lovers. The love of people for this legendary singer was brought forward by Director Brahmanand S Siingh, Mobius Films Mumbai, in his biography “Kagaz ki Kashti”. This biography touched the most unexplored aspects of life of Jagjit Singh.

The biography was so full of life that audience could be seen enjoying the humour which was part of the Ghazal singer’s nature. Similarly certain parts were so touching that the audience could not control their tears. The biographical documentary shows Jagjit Singh Sahab performing concerts in various parts of world. Glimpses from his ghazal shows kept the people glued to their seats.

Director Brahmanand S Siingh revealed that the film took 3 and half years to complete. The time invested in giving a final touch to this biography calculates upto 40000 hours. Jagjit Singh’s close friend Kuldeep Desai was also present for during the screening.

It is well known that the silk smooth voice of Jagjit Singh is beyond comparison. He ruled the hearts of his fans. Besides being a ghazal singer, Jagjit Sahab was also an extremely kind man at heart. A lot of revelations by his close associates and friends state that he never thought twice before lending am anonymous helping hand to the needy. Though betrayed, too, by some of his known people Jagjit Singh never stopped his habit of going out of the way to help people. He was lovingly addressed as “Papa”.

The documentary touches the moments from his life as a child to the day he breathed his last. “The Unforgettable” Ghazal Maestro has gone “Beyond Time” but his voice “Echoes” in our hearts.
