Bharatnatyam workshop from June 1 at Shilpgram

The five-day Cut Work and Lace making workshop organized by the West Zone Cultural Center Udaipur concluded on Sunday, 28 May at Shilpgram. Women aged 12 to 65 enthusiastically participated  in this workshop and learnt this art under the guidance of renowned artist and lace making and cut work expert Sophia Jaipuri.

In this five-day workshop, each participant made two table mats in cut work by learning new techniques of lace making and cut work. They also made a cushion cover using new techniques in lace making. In this process, after tracing the design on a plain cloth, a lace work cushion cover was made on it through 3D outliner. This innovation of lace work takes very little time to produce creations that have the feel of lace even without the use of thread. An exhibition of artefacts made by the participating women was also organized. The participants also shared their views about this workshop.
