“Malhar” the 2 day program mesmerised the audience before bidding farewell.

The 2 day cultural program at Shilpgram bid farewell but the way it captivated the audience with its classical dance and music is beyond comparison. Dr. Meeta Pandit from Delhi, well known for her excellent grip on classical music and Kathak dancer Gauri Diwakar and her group made everyone sway to the beauty of their performances.

Dr. Meeta fascinated the audience with “Khayal” and “Thumri”. The kathak dances by Gauri and troupe had the audiences dancing. What more could have been asked for on a wonderful monsoon evening!! Dr. Meeta started with Vilambit Khayal “Garjan aaye ri badariya” based on Raag Surdasi. Beats of tabla added to the grace increasing the level of music in the hearts of audience. After this she fascinated the audience with “Badarva barsan ko aaye”, “Saavan jhar laage laa dheere dheere”. Gyan Singh on tabla and Shishir Bhatt on harmonium gave music to the beautiful vocal of Dr. Meeta.

Gauri Diwakar ,a student of Pandit Birju Maharaj, presented dance based on the five elements. Gauri and her troupe displayed the elements Earth and Water in an absolutely unique way. Audience were thrilled by her presentation. Shubhi Johari and Anukruti Vishvas presented the origin of Earth through Atharv Ved by their splendid moves. The choreographers were Rachna Pathak and Ashutosh Dixit.

Gauri and her troupe also presented Tarana. Basic elements of Kathak were brought forward by the beats on Tabla and the tapping of feet. Overall the co-ordination was an unforgettable experience for the audience. The entire presentation with the music of Shubha Mudgal and Anish Prasad created an excellent effect and the performance was watched without dropping an eyelid. The others who contributed through their soulful instruments were Yogesh Gangani on Tabla, Paramveer Gangani on Pakhavaj, Samiulla on Harmonium, Amir Khan on Sarangi and Uma Shankar on Sitar.

The two-day program became an unforgettable memory for the classical music and dance lovers.
