The two-day event was attended by 800 guests from across the world; attendees celebrate the momentous occasion with traditional songs and dances
Udaipur, February 11, 2025 - The 43rd two-day mass wedding for the poor and differently-abled at Narayan Seva Sansthan's Seva Mahatirth in Badi began on February 8. The ceremonies took off with Vinayak sthapna, followed by the rituals of haldi and mehndi. The following day, on February 9, 51 couples took the sacred vow around the holy fire, becoming life partners for eternity.
On the first day, the founder of the institution, Padma Shri Kailash ‘Manav’, co-founder Kamala Devi, president Prashant Agarwal and director Vandana Agarwal performed the Vinayak sthapna and prayed for the success of the wedding. The event saw around 800 guests, including people from Asia, Oceania, North America, Europe and from across India.
For many, dreams were being fulfilled at the mass wedding in Narayan Seva Sansthan. Among the differently-abled couples tying the knot, some have no limbs and there are even those who cannot see or hear. However, through the efforts of the institution, these people will now become each other's support.
The haldi and mehndi rituals took off with traditional Rajasthani wedding songs rending the air. Guests danced to the tunes of Haldi Lagao Ri, Tel Chadhayo Ri, Banni Ka Gora Badan Damkayo Ri and Mehndi Ko Rang Surang Niphje Malve Ji. Attendees danced to traditional songs during the rituals of oil, haldi, sandalwood and mehndi.
Indore's Dharamdas, who has no hands, had the haldi put on his shoulders and the mehndi to his feet, while his bride, Sajjan, had the mehndi applied to her amputated limb.
President Agarwal welcomed the families and guests, explaining that most of the differently-abled couples who were getting married had surgeries done at the institution and have also received vocational training to become self-reliant. He shared that the institution is soon going to use the latest world-class technology in prosthetic limb manufacturing, which will make life even easier for the differently-abled.
Founder Kailash ‘Manav’ and Kamala Devi blessed the 51 couples who were about to enter the holy bond of matrimony. All relatives present were also honoured.
The following day at 10:00 am, the toran and varmala rituals were performed. The bridegrooms and brides took vows around the sacred fire, with priests chanting Vedic mantras.
