The 14th Urs of spiritual saint Mastan Baba has begun today with lifting of religious flag over the shrine located near Rani Road, Udaipur. The devotees from nearby places including the local communities took part in the procession that started from Mulla Talai.

The 14th Urs of spiritual saint Mastan Baba has begun today with lifting of religious flag over the shrine located near Rani Road, Udaipur. The devotees from nearby places including the local communities took part in the procession that started from Mulla Talai.

Various religious ceremonies will be conducted as a part of traditional rituals observed during Urs of sufi saints. The Urs of Mastan Baba will continue till January 23, 2012.

Majid Khan, the president of Urs Committee told UT about the scheduled program in all three days. He said, “Today the holy chadar, that was brought from Ajmer was taken out in the procession. A saintly devoted songs known as Naath will be conducted by the students of Raza Madrasa.”

The specially invited guests on the event are Nisar Ahmad from Basani, Nagore and Haji Mohammad Ishaq from Rajnagar. Both are highly respected personalities in the community.

Majid khan said, “Special security arrangements were made by the authorities to ensure that this auspicious occasion goes peacefully. The security is under the direction of Additional SP Tejraj Singh and other deputy officers including Dayanand Sarang and Ata-ur-Rehman.”
