At the monthly theater presentation ‘Rangshala’ by West Zone Cultural Center at Darpan Auditorium, Shilpgram; ‘Mayaram ki Maya’ took the audience into a spell of laughter.

The theater artists from Delhi performed the play, written by Jayvardhan and directed by J.P Singh which encapsulated a story around a clever protagonist named Mayaram who gained popularity in the village with his clever tricks up his sleeves.

The contemporary play had folk nuances with advanced thoughts that made it entertaining for people. The inclusion of English speaking Brahma in the play was the highlight.

The entire play centered on a human who at times challenges the presence of God and that is reflected in his thoughts, actions and words.

The commendable performance of Mayaram was enacted by Himmat Singh Negi where the character of his servant Sevakram was played by Yogesh Sharma. The other artists were J.P Singh (Brahma), Rakesh Sharma (Purohit Ponganand), Rohit Sharma (Jaggu), Pankaj Dwivedi, Jitendra Chauhan, Shirish Panda, Arun Sode, Madan Dogra, Rohit Tripathi, Jatin Joshi, Raci Parcha, Piyush Verma, Guneet Singh, Prince, Latika and Bhanu Pratap Singh.
