Meera Enlivens through Dance Drama

The mahotsav started on 11 October with Yagya and Flag Hoisting in the morning. The function aimed to relive the ideals of Meera bai who dedicated her life to Lord Krishna.

 
Report by Amit Mathur Meera Kala Mandir, Udaipur has organised two days 56 th Meera Kala Mahotsav to pay tribute to Meera Bai who presented an ideal of devotion in the medieval times. The mahotsav started on 11 October with Yagya and Flag Hoisting in the morning. The function aimed to relive the ideals of Meera bai who dedicated her life to Lord Krishna. Meera Enlivens through Dance Drama In the evening the glory and dedication of Bhakt Shiromani Meera Bai was enlivened on the stage through a dance drama presented by the participating actors like Ishrat Jahan, Divya lajwanti, Jai Kumar and others. The spectators were spellbound at the performance. Meera Enlivens through Dance Drama Other cultural events were also organised during the two days. The closing ceremony is held in the evening of 12 th October with various cultural events organised by the joint effort of Cultural Centre and Meera Kala Mandir. The major attractions of the event were; Dang dance group of Gujarati tribal areas, Maniyar artists of Barmer and Kalbeliya dance of Jiodhpur. According to Prafull Kumar Verma, Spokesman of Meera Kala Mandir said, “The two days Meera Mahotsav has been organised to bring to society the ideals of devoted saint Meera Bai. In addition to this there was no entry fee for those who want to visit Meera Memorial Museum and to watch the stag eprogrammes.”
