The young and fresh team from Udaipur (DFA) could not make it past the first game and was ousted from the Annual Mohan Kumar Manglam Memorial Football Tournament being held at Zawar Mines, Udaipur.

Braving a concerted attack by the experienced team from Akola, Maharashtra, the DFA Udaipur team, bolstered by a lone goal (equalizer) from Mahendra Sharma, kept the scores leveled at 1-1 across both the halves, but were unfortunate to lose during the Penalty Shoot out.  Udaipur strikers failed to net two shots to the goal, and Akola made it after just missing one shot.  Akola won 5-4.

The Mohan Kumar Manglam All India Football Tournament has been restarted after a gap of three years, with the last instance being in 2013.  However, the craze of football, which is spread across the dozens of villages in the beautiful mountains 40 kilometers towards the south of Udaipur continues even today.

The inaugural day on Sunday witnessed a packed stadium and today was no lesser, being a Monday, which is also a holiday in the Mines area.  Women, children and of course the young and old were there to witness the match, today being a local team on one side of the Center Line.

Earlier during the afternoon, Rajasthan kept up the momentum by winning a one sided match against the team from Neemuch.

For record, the Mohan Kumar Manglam Memorial Hindustan Zince Football Tournament is organized by Hindustan Zinc and encompasses teams from across the country.  This year is the 39^th season of the tournament, which started way back in 1976.  The finals of the tournament will be played on the 30^th of January.
