It is noteworthy that 299 Universities across India were a part of this event. This is an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Government of India.
NYP aims to cater to the needs of the youth in the age group of 15-29 years. Its perspective is to make the youth of the country not only economically productive but also groom them to be socially responsible and to provide India its righteous position at the international forum.
The NSS Programme Coordinator Dr. D.S.Chouhan briefed the youth about the objectives and 11 priority areas of this policy. The priority areas are education, skill development and employment, entrepreneurship, health and healthy lifestyle, sports, promotion of social values, community engagement, participation in politics and governance, youth engagement, inclusion and social justice.
The programme started with the ceremonial flag-off of the awareness rally by Rinu Ghosh, and Ashok Ghosh, Vice-President and President of SPSU.
Dr. Anand Gupta, General Secretary, Indian Medical Association and Managing Director, Aravali Group of Hospitals was the Chief Guest of this launch at SPSU.
Dr. Gupta said that the youth of today should use these platforms to avail the maximum benefit from these policies. He also stressed that the youth must focus on team-building and contributes towards the development of the nation.
Prof. Deka, Vice-Chancellor of the University, urged the youth to realize their potential, understand their social responsibilities, and devote their energies to the task of nation building.
The programme was also coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Shashikant Dargar, Harish Tiwari. Registrar, Deans of Engineering and Management fraternity, faculty members and students of SPSU attended the event. The grand event concluded with the live interactive telecast of the “Informal Sit-in Discussion (Choupal).”
