As a mark of tribute on the 93rd birth anniversary of former Foreign Secretary Padma Bhushan Late Jagat Mehta, the paperback edition of his book ‘The Tryst Betrayed: Reflections on Diplomacy & Development’ was launched.

As a mark of tribute on the 93rd birth anniversary of former Foreign Secretary Padma Bhushan Late Jagat Mehta, the paperback edition of his book ‘The Tryst Betrayed: Reflections on Diplomacy & Development’ was launched.

In the ceremony, former Indian ambassador T.P Shrinivasan expressed how his forecast regarding India’s development seemed to come true in the following years. Be it the downfall of Soviet Union or nuclear treaty with America, Mehta had depicted the important milestones.

Shrinivasan added that in the history of India’s foreign policy, Mehta has been a proficient diplomat, symbol of honesty and ardent patriotic. Mehta had played an important role by advising Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Atal Bihari and many others throughout his tenure.

The ceremony was attended by esteemed guests including former editor and journalist of Indian Express Pamela Philipose, Dhrupad singer Sunita Ameen, administrative officers, politicians, educationists and social activists etc.
