The Play ‘Dear Father’ was performed on the eve of PI Industries’ Founder’s Day in the remembrance of founder PP Singhal.
The play starring veteran theater artist and actor Paresh Rawal played the role of Manubhai Mankad, a retired and widower, who lives with his son (Ajay Mankad) and daughter-in-law (Alka Mankad) with love and respect.
Manubhai meets with an accident; he falls down from the balcony of their fourth floor house and goes into coma. Abhyankar, a senior Inspector also played by Paresh Rawal visits the family for routine inquiry.
He suspects the case to be an attempted suicide case after which Ajay and Alka vehemently argue with him that it’s not possible. To the shock of Ajay and Alka, Abhyankar springs a surprise and claims that this is an attempted murder! Only they being present in the house at that time- either of them or both could be murderer!
Abhyankar manages to prove that both have motive and there are irrefutable evidences against both of them. Accident, Suicide or Murder? What is the Reality?
The play engages in solving this puzzle and in the process addresses many a issues relating to the family and relationships in the changing times, generation and communication gap and differences between taking care and giving care.
With powerful performance from Paresh Rawal, the play is written by Dr. Vivek Bede, adapted by Uttam Gada and directed by Dinkar Jani.
