The five day National Workshop on ‘Bahurupiya Art’ concluded today at Shilpgram. The colorful event was organized by West Zone Culture Center (WZCC) Udaipur.
Around 53 artists from 10 states participated and were taught to enhance their skills by experts.
Last Sunday evening, the artists demonstrated their skills in colorful getups of various mythological characters at Fateh Sagar.
They entertained the audience with their tricks while some took blessings and took pictures of the memorable moments spend in Udaipur.
Bahurupiya Art is one of the oldest arts in India, but unfortunately it is on the verge of extinction. In some states this art has been preserved with the help of State Government, while in other states there is no such initiative to preserve the art.
Bahurupiya or one can say typical clown, is deeply associated with healthy entertainment of viewers, through their notorious and friendly acts.
Today in the concluding ceremony, Shailendra Dashora, Director, WZCC, thanked all the artists for their participation and praised their efforts. He also gave certificates to the participants.
