Long awaited Shilp Gram Fest organized by West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC) started today in a vibrant fashion. Governor Margaret Alva and President of WZCC inaugurated and announced the start of the fest which would continue for the next 10 days.
Governor was warmly welcomed by small girls dressed in Rajasthani cultural attire. Thereafter she was escorted by Gudumb players from Madhya Pradesh and entertained by several folk artists from Rajasthan and Gujarat. She inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp and then enjoyed folk dances by artists from Maharashtra and Punjab.
Impressed by the whole festival, Governor praised WZCC and said that it is the most important and only one of its kinds of center in the country which brings together the culture and art at one platform every year. Artisans and craftsmen from various corners of the country come together at this place to exhibit and sell their marvelous products.
Governor was accompanied by her husband, Niranjan Alva, VC MLSU Professor I V Trivedi, Collector Vikas S Bhale and S P Hari Prasad Sharma.
