More than one hundred horses of different breeds took part in the first of its kind Horse Show in Udaipur’s Gandhi Ground today. The event was a part of the ongoing Mewar Festival.
More than one hundred horses of different breeds took part in the first of its kind Horse Show in Udaipur’s Gandhi Ground today. The event was a part of the ongoing Mewar Festival.
Organized by Udaipur administration in association with Department of Animal Husbandry, horse breeders from the city and nearby areas attended the show with their horses. Majority of the horses are of Marwari breed.
Inaugurating the show, District Collector Ashutosh Pednekar said, “The show will help creating awareness, knowledge and information about horses and their breeds. It will also be valuable from the perspective of tourism.”
According to Dr. Surendra Changani, assistant director, Department of Animal Husbandry, “Horses of Marwari, Nukra, Kathiawadi and other species took part in the show. Many horses came from Vijaynagar Gogunda, Sava (Chittorgarh) etc.”
The horse show included displaying of techniques, dance and decoration of horses. To conclude the program, horses were gathered around the statue of Chetak, the horse of Maharana Pratap and they displayed their skills.
