The Holy City of Pushkar draws world’s eyes every year from 30th Oct-6th Nov as the city witnesses one of the largest fairs in India – The Pushkar Cattle Fair.

Thousands of people from Rajasthan’s Desert areas, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar gathers at Pushkar with their cattle and livestock for sale. This extraordinary event attracts not only world media but it also became a favorite spot for passionate photographers.

UT Photo Journalist Ayush Devpura also succeeded in grabbing this opportunity which he calls as a ‘Lifetime Opportunity’ for any photographer. Ayush stayed in Pushkar from 1st to 5th Nov and tried his best not to miss any single event. Accompanied with a group of photographers from Udaipur, Ayush has captured some amazing photographs of Camels, Camel Traders and the Fair.

More from Ayush’s words On the first day, we simply walked around the Pushkar City, visited the famous Brahma Mandir, saw the Ghats of Pushkar and then went to the semi desert area where the Pushkar Cattle Fair was being held. The fair had hundreds and thousands of livestock, mainly camels and horses. The traders came from nearby areas of Rajasthan and many were from U.P and Bihar. From the beginning till the end of the fair, the traders stayed in their tents. One of the traders told me an alarming fact that, the numbers of camels are decreasing every year due to exports and illegal slaughter. We captured every moment of Pushkar Fair during our 5 day stay and enjoyed every bit of it. In case, any of you has missed, a similar fair is conducted at Jalra Patan (Jhalawad District) after Pushkar Fair concludes.
