Bidding adieu to the Hindu year of 2068 and welcoming the New Year 2069 (Vikram Samvat), an evening of celebrations at Gangaur Ghat was a sparkling scene where hundreds of lamps were floated on the waters of Lake Pichola. The lamps were lighted from the sacred flames of the temple of Shree Nath Ji. This was followed by the Ganga Arti.

“Jyoti Kalash Chetna Yatra” started from Shreenath Ji and concluded in Udaipur at the Gangaur Ghat. The procession, which passed through the cities streets, was welcomed with showers of flower petals and with traditional music.

The procession was also adorned with two huge torches. Two of the famous saints Bheem Singh Chouhan and Santosh Balyogi accompanied the procession and headed the program of Arti at Ghangaur Ghat.

With the luminous lake shore and a series of cultural programs, the year 2069 was welcomed with grand fireworks.

The four day Nav Samvatsar program has been organized by the Nav Varsh Samaroh Samiti, in association with Udaipur Municipal Corporation and Alok Institute.
