The "Rath Yatra" is to be held on 12th July 2021.
Supreme Court has dismissed pleas seeking nod to conduct the much awaited yatra.
It will be held only at Jagannath Puri, said the SC.
It has been a long wait for the devotees and each one is desperately waiting for the “darshan” of their deities in the Rath Yatra. Shri Jagannath Rath Yatra will not be conducted for 2nd year in a row as the Supreme Court has dismissed the plea seeking nod to conduct the rath yatra at places other than Jagannath Puri.
The Rath Yatra is to be held on July 12 but this time only Jagannath Puri will witness the waves of devotion. All other devotees will have to satisfy their parched souls with online darshan.
The pandemic has taken its toll over all the festivities and devotional processions that were a source of mental peace are forced to take a backseat. Devotees in Udaipur who are part of the yatra every year and others who feel at peace only by listening to the enchantments at the time of the yatra procession are going to be really disappointed.
The Supreme Court said that it cannot take chance in view of the fact that the pandemic has killed lakhs of people. Allowing the Rath Yatra in other places will only invite breaking the norms of social distancing ultimately resulting in the multiplication of covid cases.
