UdaipurTimes, Oct 17, 2026 - A State-level Red Run marathon was organised in Udaipur jointly by the Department of Library and Information Science at Mohanlal Sukhadia University, the Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society (RSACS), Jaipur, and the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Delhi. Hundreds of young participants from more than 50 colleges across Rajasthan took part in the marathon.

The event, held along Udaipur’s Fateh Sagar, aimed to raise public awareness about AIDS, promote social responsibility and encourage voluntary blood donation.

Addressing the participants, Chief Guest Professor Neeraj Sharma, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, said “This event is not merely a sporting competition; it is a collective call for social sensitivity towards people battling serious illnesses. Young people can use their energy to dispel the darkness of misconceptions and spread the light of awareness.”

He conveyed messages of:

  • Fight the disease, not the person living with it
  • Offer understanding and respect, not pity
  • Correct information is the best protection
  • Open discussions about AIDS are essential to breaking the cycle of silence
  • Youth awareness and regular blood donation are the cornerstones of a healthy nation

Lalit Chauhan and Sitaram, representatives of RSACS, Jaipur, attended the programme as special guests.

Event coordinator Dr PS Rajput said the marathon began at Mahakaleshwar Temple, passed along Rani Road and concluded at the Fateh Sagar promenade.
