Relocation of Government premises is necessary of Smart City: L.N Dhakad

Rotary Club Udaipur has organized a discussion session on planning and execution of Smart City Udaipur today. The keynote speaker of the program was prominent educationist L.N Dhakad.

L.N Dhakad said that the city will really get benefit if all government offices and residences located in the city area get relocated elsewhere. Dhakad said that from last 71 years around 31 acre of land of city is occupied by government departments like collectorate, session court, collector’s house, session judge house, Girwa Tehsil, Registry office, directorate of Mines and Geology, BSNL, LIC, UMC etc.

In past lands were reserved for these offices and residences like 67 acre on Badi Road,   176 acre near Tribal University, 77.57 near Bhuwana Bypass, for Central Jail and police line lands were reserved near Umarda.

The whole city will change if these offices get shifted as the vacant land will be used for improving traffic situation and parking problem.

Dhakad also put forward his views on developing road network of the city instead of relying on elevated road. L.N Dhakad said that every year around 9 lakh tourists visit Udaipur out of which 81 percent are domestic and 19 percent are foreign tourists. Under Smart City Project, the target of increasing tourists is 15-20 percent, for that several aspects should be considered like giving heritage look to the houses in old city area, providing pure and clean drinking water, free wifi in public places, providing nonstop electricity and water supply, moving all electric wires underground etc.

Club President Gajendra Jodhwat also shared his views on Smart City. Subhash Singhvi, club secretary presented thanks giving note.
