In a rendezvous with Mewar, 21 foreign students witnessed Mewari culture in Lions International Youth Exchange program(LIYEP). These students visited Goverdhan Sagar, Dudh Talai, Pichola and Fatehsagar Lake on Monday.

21 Foreign students under LIYEP visited Udaipur on Monday and enjoyed the taste and culture of Mewar. After visiting the city’s lakes, these students enjoyed a delicious meal of dal, bati and choorma at Shilpgram. They couldn’t help praising the local cuisine. They also enjoyed the cultural performances by the folk artists in Shilpgram.

Youth exchange program’s organiser Anil Nahar said that these foreign students went around visiting Udaipur with senior members of Lion’s club Udaipur, Lion’s club Mewar Gaurav, Lion’s club Udaipur Elite and Lion’s club Udaipur Bandhutva. Performances of folk artists in Shilpgram were loved by the students, said Kishore Kothari.

Organisers Meetu Kulshreshtha and Renu Chowdhary said that a special cultural program based on Rajasthani theme was prepared for the students in Lions seva sadan. The students were given Rajasthani attire to wear. Female students were given sarees and Rajasthani dresses whereas male students were wore kurta-pyjama.

Tuesday was trekking day for the students at Karni Mata temple. After the trekking, a program for visiting Pratap Gaurav Kendra was fixed so as to make the students aware of the history of Mewar and role of Maharana Pratap in it. As part of the rendezvous, the students will also be visiting Lok Kala Mandal and witnessing Rajasthani puppet show.
