A two day meeting of the SAARC nations Motor Vehicle Agreement started today at the Durbar Hall, City Palace. The meeting was inaugurated by Central Minister for Transport and Railways, Dr. C.P. Joshi.

 

SAARC Meeting for Motor Vehicle Agreement Begins

A two day meeting of the SAARC nations Motor Vehicle Agreement started today at the Durbar Hall, City Palace. The meeting was inaugurated by Central Minister for Transport and Railways, Dr. C.P. Joshi.

Representatives of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal are participating in the meeting.

The meeting was organized by the Road Transport and Highway Ministry to facilitate the movement of cargos in the SAARC countries. The expert group will try to finalize the motor vehicle regulations for easier transport between all SAARC nations’ borders.

Dr. C.P. Joshi said that the final agenda will get ready in 2020 and all SAARC nations will get connected to each other, which will further improve their relations.

Topics discussed on the first day revolved around obstacles faced during transporting and the ways to reform it, including how to make better connectivity and road networking. Representatives presented their suggestions and ideas over this issue.
