‘Sun Mere Bandhu’, a one day Audio Visual event dedicated to the late music maestro, composer and singer Sachin Dev Burman was held at the seminar hall of Agriculture College.  This event was organised under the auspices of Rotary Club.

The ambience of the event, which was hosted by Ashok Banthia, renowned TV and film artist, was truly reflecting the retro vibes of S.D. Burman’s time.

Gurmeet Singh Puri aka Romi, Theatre Artist said, “Born on 1^st Oct, 1906; S.D. Burman had an unforgettable run in the music industry.  He was always the helping kind and a humble artist.  Famous with the name ‘Sachin Da’, he started his initial run with Bangla Film industry”.

“In 1924, Sachin Da recorded his first song at Kolkata All India Radio. From Gurudutt to Kishore Kumar, he gave music to many of their tracks.  Taxi Driver (1954), which had music composed by him, got the Filmfair Award”, he added.

On 31 Oct, 1975 he took his last breath, leaving his son R.D. Burman – to sizzle the music world.

The welcoming ceremony of the event was done by Sunil Banthiya.  O.P. Sahalot, Dr. Yashwant Singh Kothari, Nirmal Singhvi, Ramesh Chaudhary, Mahendra Taya, D.P. Dhakad and Rajendra Kumar Sukhwal honored Ashok Banthiya, Gurminder Singh Puri and Mahesh Nayak, presenting them with mementos and garlands.
