‘Sandhya Chaya’ depicts poignant story of elderly parents

On the fifth day of 10th Padmashree Devilal Samar Memorial Theater Festival, artists from Indian Cultural and Social Development Association showcased a heart wrenching play ‘Sandhya Chaya’ depicting the tale of an elderly couple whose sons left them.

On the fifth day of 10th Padmashree Devilal Samar Memorial Theater Festival, artists from Indian Cultural and Social Development Association showcased a heart wrenching play ‘Sandhya Chaya’ depicting the tale of an elderly couple whose sons left them.

The program was the part of a weeklong theater festival organized to celebrate the foundation day of Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal.

It was a story about Satnam Singh and his wife who were living alone as their two sons left them to achieve their professional goals. Although, the elderly parents try to spend their time talking to strangers but it could not satisfy their need for love and care from their two sons.

In the end, after series of tragic episodes including death of one of their son and facing denial from the other, the couple consumes poison and ends their life.

The play was directed by Chandra Sharma, where as the play was written by Jayvant Dalvi. Cast of the play was Sher Singh, Reenu Parashar, Vikas Sharma, Amardeep, Pramod Rhilla, Bharti Gupta and Kishore Dutt.

Today, the play ‘Zindagi Unlimited” will be showcased in the evening 7:30 at Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal.
