Curiosity is an inbuilt characteristic in every child. The study of Science inculcates analytical and scientific approach in the child. Studying Science is a life long phenomenon and the contribution of science in nation building is unparalleled“, said Tribhuvan Singh, chief guest at the Dr. DS Kothari Science Awareness Campaign, which was held as per annual tradition at Vigyan Bhavan, Udaipur on 30 July, 2018.

He added that such events are important since they develop a scientific aptitude in children and motivate them to take up studying Science.

Dr. KL Kothari, threw light on the motivational life and work of Dr DS Kothari, in whose memory this conference was organised. Dr. Yashwant Kothari, Chief Trustee of the Dr YS Kothari Charitable Trust, spoke about the main achievements of the trust. Executve President KP Talesara and Dr Mahip Bhatnagar also addressed the students.

As a part of the event proceedings, a Model Exhibition was organised on the topic Health and Nutrition. Models depicting the benefits of good health and the correct nutrition, which the general public could identify with, were appreciated in the exhibition. Students from secondary classes impressed the audience with their potrayal of scientic knowledge. A Science Quiz and Science Essay writing competition was also held on this occasion.

DR OP Chaplot, Zone Chairman, Jain Social Group presided over the function.

Program coordinator Prakash Tated informed that Dina Kunwar and Khushi Joshi from the Govt Girls Senior Secondary School, Jagdish Chowk stood first in the Science Quiz competition. Kalpana Kumawat and Vinita Rajput from the Girls School at Ambamata took second place.  Other prize winners were as follows:

The following students won prizes in the Science Essay writing competition: First Prize: Khushbu Vaishnav, Universal School Second Prize: Neena Meena, Mahila Mandal School and Bharti Raval, Adinath School Third Prize: Khushbu Rathod, TUlsi Niketan School

The following students won prizes in the Model Exhibition competition: First Prize: Nakul Pandya and Manvi Maru Second Prize: Savigya Soni

Following students won prizes in the Painting exhibition: First Prize: Megha Chowdhary Second Prize: VInit Cheeta

Winners were given a memento and certificate of appreciation on behalf of the Dr Yashwant Kothari Charitable Public Trust, Udaipur.
