A regional level seminar was organized at the Maharana Pratap Agriculture College on Kishore Nyay Adhiniyam 2000 (Child Justice Act 2000) which included a discussion against Child Labor.

On this occasion, Aditi Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary, S.J. & E. & Social Security, Rajasthan Government said that the society and the government should use the true essence and power of the Kishore Nyay Adhiniyam 2000 for empowerment of the orphan and unfortunate children of the country.

She elaborated on the fact that this Act has specified measures for the control of Child Labor. She expressed her concern on the lack of action taken in the issues of Child Labor. Under the act, if someone is found employing a child, he or she can be fined upto Rs 20,000.

Mehta also said that if any abandoned child or infant is found, the unfortunate kid should be immediately taken to a hospital by the authorities for a medical checkup and treatment. An investigation should also be initiated to find their parents and if the child’s parents are not traceable, the children should be raised with love and proper facilities in a foster house.

The event was attended by many social workers and officials including Vishram Meena, Director, Social Justice and Empowerment Department. Officials from Child Welfare Depatment, Police Department and other social groups were also present.
